Installation and First Vault

1

Download and Install

Download the installer from the Downloads section below. Run VaultNX-Setup.exe as Administrator. The installer deploys .NET 8 automatically if needed.

2

Activate Your License

The setup wizard opens on first launch. On Step 1, enter your license key (from email or get a trial key here), your name, and email address. Click Activate. Activation takes a few seconds and binds the key to this machine.

3

Connect to Your NAS

On Step 2, enter your NAS host or IP address, the share name (e.g. data), your NAS username and password. Leave the vault root as activevault unless you have a specific folder preference. Click Test, then Next.

4

Create Your Vault

On Step 3, set your master password. Use at least 12 characters with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and a symbol. The strength meter guides you. Click Create Vault β€” this initialises the encrypted vault on your NAS (takes a few seconds).

5

Unlock and Use

After setup, the vault browser opens. Click Upload to encrypt and store files. Click Download to retrieve and decrypt. The app runs in the system tray β€” click the lock icon to unlock / lock manually.

6

Configure Settings

In Settings β†’ General, configure the auto-lock timer (1–120 min), clipboard clear interval, and startup behaviour. In Settings β†’ License, you can view expiry, deactivate, or refresh your license.

Important: There is no master password recovery. Store your password securely in a password manager before creating your vault.
